Entry 7: Internet Security

While the Internet has opened the gateways to conveniences such as (instant) connectivity and vast amount of knowledge on the World Wide Web, it has also brought on concerns that every web-surfer ought to be wary of.

From the many possible trojan viruses, worms and spywares that could mess with the proper functioning of the computer, to the unscrupulous hacking and stealing of personal information from Phishers; it is clear that amidst all the great and wonderful contributions of the Internet, Security is a key factor we should not be complacent about.

So, what's a trojan virus? Typically, it is a tricky bugger that appeals to the web-surfer's need for certain computing function. But that's just a tricky tricky cover, because it also steals information and quite possibly does damage to the operating system.

While the trojan virus typically attacks PCs with the Windows Operating System, Macs are not absolutely spared from it. It is true that Macs have got a stronger immunity and are less susceptible to such virus attacks, but on rare and unfortunate times, Macs get it just as bad as PCs with the Windows Operating System.
