So, what is the future of the Internet? Funny how the future of the Internet was thought to be what we have now. But the reality is this - It's only going to get better...really. As it is at the moment, we don't quite need to rely on the computer to access the Internet. Mobilephones, handheld gaming devices, mp3 players all have the capability to get connected to the Internet at the moment. It won't be much of a surprise if (or rather...when) the Internet can be access from our very own being (a nod of the head, a blink of an eye, or any other simple gestures).

Meanwhile though, before we get there, we still have to remember that where we are now with the Internet is still an amazing feat no one might have imagined from the past. Each year sees a growth in possibilities and the number of equipments that has the connectivity to the Internet.

While no one will know for sure what the future is like, let alone how the Internet will be like. One thing is for sure, more lives will continue to get easier, more communication will take place beyond geographical and cultural differences. But, true as that may be, we must constantly remind ourselves that the Internet is just a tool to facilitate. By no means, should the Internet rule our lives. There are signs that the number of Internet Addiction is on the steady rise. This is what the American Psychiatric Association terms as Internet Addiction Disorder (IAD).
So as we continue to be propelled further into the era of modern Information Technology, we should practice social responsibility with our usage of the Internet because the Internet is just part of life's conveniences and should never be central focus to life.
